3 Ways to Fundraise For Your High School Booster Club
Fundraising is very important for any high school football program. Teams need funds for travel, new equipment and of course, new inflatables. High school football teams are important to the local community and many people would be happy to help. High School Booster clubs are the perfect support system for teams to raise funds for their upcoming season. In this blog we will explore the different ways teams and booster clubs can engage the community and fundraise for next season.
Raffles are a classic fundraising method. They tend to go along well with an event dedicated to the team/program. If you are unfamiliar with a raffle, this is how it works. Participants buy raffle tickets from the host (in this case your high school booster club) at a price set by your team. The ticket will have a number on it and towards the end of the event, there will be a draw. When the time has come, the host will draw ticket stubs from a hat or bowl. Traditionally there are three prizes to be earned. The first ticket drawn will win third place, the second ticket drawn will win second place, and the last ticket drawn will win first place.
The prizes that your team comes up is totally up to you but it is important to not make them too excessive. You certainly do not want the cost of your prizes to exceed the amount of money you are aiming to earn. That is why it is a good idea to raffle off experiences rather than items. Treat your lucky fans to an upgraded seating experience at one of your games. Let them be close to the sideline in comfortable seating with a complimentary meal and drink. Another potential experience could be an honorary coin flipper. Have your lucky donor out there at midfield flip the coin and have a photo taken with the team captains and officials.
The process of acquiring sponsors is one that can be tricky and complicated. Honest and clear communication is necessary to create a solid relationship between your high school booster club and any potential sponsor. An ideal strategy would be trying to contact businesses owned or managed by your school’s alumni. You could appeal to their high school roots and encourage them to support the current team. The process of acquiring sponsors can also give your players some professional experience. Build your players’ confidence off the field as they make a pitch to the businesses.
At IDG some of the most common ways we have helped sponsors become involved with football teams is through inflatable entryways. Inflatable tunnels and mascot entryways are customized with your team’s logos and colors. They spark school spirit and they get the crowd rocking on game day! We can help your team or school highlight the sponsor by adding their logo or name to a banner on the side of the inflatable entryway. What a better way to highlight a business than to see their name up in lights on Friday night. The large size of the inflatables leaves plenty of room to include the logo of a potential sponsor or company name. We can work with you to create a design that will work both for the school and the sponsor. Sponsor banners can be permanent or removable. The task of raising sponsorship money can be a lot of work but with a little help and some time, finding a sponsor can be a win/win for both parties.
3. Crowd Funding
In 2020 mostly everyone in America has access to the internet. The 2010s gave birth to crowdfunding, where anyone can financially support causes online. Web sites like GoFundMe, Kickstarter, and even Facebook have become tools anyone can use to fundraise for whatever campaign they are running.
These websites are fantastic tools for your teams fundraiser but it takes more work to have a successful fundraiser than just sharing a link. People want to see that you are passionate about your team and won’t contribute unless you prove your worth. The best way to do this is through a hype video. The video can be easily linked to the fundraiser’s web page for all potential donors to view. Hype videos can include highlights from last season, player & coaches interviews, and fan testimonials. A well edited hype video for your football team is a great way to get everyone excited for your upcoming season!
The Magic of High School Football
There is nothing that gets your community as excited as Friday night lights! High School football brings everyone from the school community together to support their team. Graduating classes from years past always come back and support the team and reminisce over fond memories. A successful football team is not only good for the players and coaches, but for the whole community. This is why it is important to give everyone involved the best game day experience possible.
